  INTRODUCTION TO HEAVY EQUIPMENT
  September - Houlton
Feel the Earth Move

It's coming!
Feel the earth move under your feet!

Women Unlimited and the Maine Department of Transportation are bringing our Fun Day to Houlton. This is your chance for a hands-on, stress-free, wicked-fun day exploring all sorts of heavy equipment like dump trucks, front-end loaders, back-hoes, and skid steers.

There's no charge for this event, and you don't need to be a member of our JobBank to attend, but you MUST register in advance. We'll meet up on Saturday, 18 September, from 9:00 – 12:00. Wear the sturdiest shoes that you have - no sandals, crocs, etc. If you have workboots, this is the time to break them out.

INTRODUCTION TO HAND AND POWER TOOLS

September - Calais

This is a hands-on course on the campus of Washington County Community College. You'll learn the safe use of a wide variety of tools you might encounter on the worksite, and upon completion you'll receive an NCCER certificate.

The class will run from 9:00 to 4:30 each day - 8, 9, and 10 September. We'll break for a half-hour lunch - bring your own chow and water, coffee, etc.
Safety first! No loose clothing, tie back your hair, and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes - if you have boots, wear them! We'll provide eye protection for you.

Call now to register - class size is limited.

  COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENCE - CLASS B
  Machias

A CDL course is on tap for Machias; the date will be announced after applicants are interviewed and accepted.

Women Unlimited has an excellent reputation with Maine employers for providing them with top-flight new drivers; one reason for this reputation is our strict pre-screening process: candidates for our course must pass a drug test, have held a valid, clean United States Class C license for five years, and no OUIs - period. You must dedicate yourself to the course requirements of a mix of days, week-ends, and evenings. Only JobBank members will be considered to attend the class at no charge.

Call now to register - class size is limited.

Eligibility

The majority of our trainings are open to JobBank members only. Some "Introduction" days are open to the public; however, registration fees may apply.

Acceptance into a training depends on your need and an evaluation process which determines, to a great degree, how you will accept the demands of the training and will thrive and use the skills you learn to "pay it forward". Our trainings are free of charge to those who qualify; others interested may attend for a very reasonable fee.

Nothing will work
unless you do.

Fees

Women Unlimited may charge registration fees for some of our trainings. We are a not-for-profit organization on an extremely tight budget - we can't afford to set aside dollars, staff hours, and facility space for you if you decide at the last minute not to attend. Even more important, we may have turned down others who could have participated in and benefited from the training.

The registration fee will vary according to the length, cost, and complexity of the training, and this fee is always returned if you successfully complete the course.
